well, hello there....

i've surfaced.

wow. it's been a whirlwind month.
i just looked up and it's 3 weeks from
thanksgiving. holy cow.

so, what's mwood been up to since i last posted? oh you know....
hanging with this man right here :)

quick recap of what's been a'happenin' in the wood hood.

the day of jwood's return back at the end of september,
jess and i ran the women's 1/2......

Talk about in step.... ha!

we celebrated jwood's return and 30th birthday with a sunday funday! it was
a blast. huuuuuge marshmellow, yummy food and great friends.

Clearly, I was enjoying the large 'mallows!
We're forever 21 at our house :) I made Justin's favorite cake - Homemade German Chocolate!

A Lenderman-girl sandwich :)

Happy Birthday, JWood! Hope for many, many more 21sts!

I was pretty proud of my homemade icing.
i said goodbye to a very dear friend of mine who moved away to austin. :(
i miss you like crazy, kels!

3 of my oldest friends in Nashville. Love you, girls!
i also said goodbye to my friend, jill, who moved to NYC!
i'm living vicariously through her experiences on her blog.
miss you, jilly!!!!

jwood and i took our 4th annual october trip to the smokies. it was an
amazing little get-a-way. i def needed a few days away from work and some
alone time to hang out with forever boyfriend after being gone for so long.
we had a real cabin for a few days and hiked and played around in east
tennessee/western north carolina. october is my favorite time in the
smokies. it's truly a religious experience. the delicious fall colors will
just leave you sitting in silence.

3rd time is a charm! we hiked charlie's bunion and it was gorgeous!
the first time i hiked it - it was completely socked in with fog.
the second time we hiked it - we got hailed on.
this trip though - God was shining his face on us and it was awesome!

the final evening of our trip was spend atop mt. leconte at leconte lodge.
one of the coolest things i've done in a long time.

of course, in true wood
fashion - there was a hiccup in our reservations. we hiked to the top with
all of our gear to spend the night (of course, we left our confirmation at
the bottom of the mountain) and got to the top to check in and they didn't
have our  names on the list. whaaaa? of course. all i could do was laugh -
par for the course on our luck these days. nothing is easy. they did some
research and realized they had expected us on october 6th, not 19th. they
were so kind to accomodate us and put us up in one of the crew member's
cabins, so we were able to stay and have our first leconte lodge
expereience afterall :)

after we got our stuff settled in our little cabin, we went to myrtle point
to just sit and take in the beauty. it was amazing.
they served dinner family style. the food was hearty and delicious. not to
mention, the amazing hot chocolate. yum! after dinner, we went to the cliff
tops to watch the sunset.

breakfast was served the same as dinner and we sat with the same people.
let me tell you - i was not a happy camper having to leave. i def could
have spent several days on top of that mountain secluded from the reality
and real world below. that is def a trip i will be doing again :)

back to reality and work. blah.

this year's halloween was another super success!! jwood and i have grown to
really look forward to halloween and dressing up! jwood didn't really dress
up when he was younger, so i'm enjoying getting to share the fun with him
as a grown up! check out our previous years here....
we started planning our costume back in august when he sent
me this pic of him in his rain slickers. if i got asked once, i got asked
1,000 times if he was on a crab boat fishing this summer instead of working
on asphalt. ha! so, we decided to utilize his slickers for halloween! i got
super crafty and actually sewed my own costume - crab claws!! we were a
crab fisherman and a crab!! we went to a party at my friends, B and A's
house, and had a ball!

so yea - we've been suuuuper busy since jwood's return.

oh - did i mention that i'm training for a FULL FREGGIN' MARATHON??? wow.

it's been one of the most challenging and time consuming things i've ever
committed to do at my own free will. it's been challenging and rewarding
all at the same time. i've completed 5 weeks of the training, with 5 more
to go. lemme tell you, 20 miles is a loooooooong way. ha! but, thankfully,
it's going well and i've been blessed to be injury free thus far. i'm
training for the st. jude marathon on december 4th. this will be the 1 year
anniversary of my first 1/2 marathon! :) please keep me in your thoughts
and prayers that i remain injury free and can cross that finish line in one piece and vertical :)

there you have it my friends.... a recap of our past month. hopefully i
will be able to report more than once a month. i'm praying for some positive changes in mwood-land.
i will keep you posted if those prayers come to fruition.

happy november, folks! it's mwood birthday month!!!!
