but, we do love a pig roast!
our neighbor friends, brian and patty, invited us to a pig roast/field party this past saturday. um, yes please! there is a large hand full of events that i miss from home and field parties are among them. you know, along with camo, hunting, gravel roads, boots in the back of trucks, harvest time .... you know. there are things you miss about small town USA.
when we were given the invite to head on out to a pig roast.... in a field..... with a real outhouse. you better betcha i was going to be there.
some of the guys camped out on friday night to start the pig roasting process. this was no piglet, eor. this was a 250 lb. hog full of bones and deliciousness slapped down in a cinder block pit and roasted for hours and hours. oh yeaaaa! this view is not for those with a weak stomach or some that are "trying to be a vegetarian" *ahem, jess.*
we made our way to the field and i instantly fell in love. the land was south of nashville and on the outskirts of murfressboro. we took a gravel road to get there - bingo! we drove passed bails of hay, horses, and a huge red barn. the picture couldn't have been more perfect.
there was UT playin' on the radio, some toddy's being passed around, a bon fire, some camping chairs, a river, an outhouse, a freggin' pig roasting - i couldn't have asked for a better saturday. oh yea - and almost the entire wolf pack kickball team was in attendance. we practiced. NOT.
thanks for the invite, B & P! j & i felt right at home. who needs the swine flu when you can roast the swine! yay-er!
isn't this area beautiful?? i have land envy.
warning: pig parts.
