tri and tri again...

i mentioned in a post earlier that i had a mini meltdown last summer when i had issues with my bike. there was a crash, there were about 10 flat tire rides, there was a ride that turned into a walkwithyourbike3milesbacktothecar. the number of issues that i had with my bike became quite humorous over last summer, so "humorous" that i literally put myself in bike timeout until jwood returned in the fall. my bike had a layer of dust on it by september. but, alas, he came home and saved the day! i have enjoyed many bike rides since last september, completely hiccup free. j bought a bike and we even went on a 30 mile bike ride one day, and not one single mishap or fit commenced :)

j made sure that i knew how to properly air up my tires (apparently i wasn't putting enough air in them each time, thus why they left me flat and stranded several times.... who knew? air = full tires.) moving on. we also bought this awesome bike carrier that is on the jeep for easy access.

i am prepared.

so, as i mentioned - i've bumped my head and have decided that a triathlon is on my list of things to accomplish this summer. i mean - what else do i have do? right?

yesterday was nice and warm and lovely out. i decided it would be a perfect day for one of my weekly bike training rides. i air up the tires, put my bike on my trusty bike rack, take myself in the jeep to the smyrna greenway. i dismount the bike, grab my water and off i go. the smyrna greenway has about a 10 mile paved path, perfect for a quick little afternoon jaunt on the bike.

it was perrrrfect out and i got my rhythm down and was really feeling good about myself. i'm on a solo bike ride, j is in AK, i have overcome last summer.

FAIL. the frazzlin' greenway was UNDER WATER about 1.5 miles into my ride. $%@#&(*though this fail was not my fault, it was a fail nonetheless. here we go again........

i haven't grounded myself and bike yet, but we're definitely on probation until the flood waters recede.
back to the spin bike i go.
my first actual bike ride outside might be on the day of the tri. *rolls eyes*
