anyway.
i think it's about time we called "MERCY" on mother nature.
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms once never bothered me. in fact, we would stand outside in the good ole delta and watch storms roll in from miles and miles away (because SEARK is flat as a pancake and you can see for miles and miles....) this was all fun and games until my little hometown was the victim of a devestating tornado, and so was my family. in fact, if you look up Dumas, AR on Google Earth - you can actually see the damange. apparently they took those orthos right after the tornado. creepy.
i take these things much more seriously now. this spring has not helped my fear of storms in the slightest. with the utter heartbreak, loss, and destruction that the South has experienced this Spring - i want to call "MERCY."
why am i writing about this today? because this happened in my backyard last night....
the wind got pretty darn wicked at the wood hood last night and this tree just snapped - in half. lily and i were home alone and let me tell you - we both bolted up out of bed at about 12:30am. she growled and i growled. tree snapped. exciting times for us in the wee hours of the night (yes, i had been asleep for a while - i'm old).
i'm thankful that God spared the wood hood and that tree fell in the opposite direction.
Mercy, Mother Nature, Mercy. please let lily and me sleep in peace.
