i cannot even put into words how stinkin' awesome my evening was last night. i was lucky enough to score a ticket - thanks to jdoss' manfriend dipping out of town - to the sold out Anjelah Johnson show at Zanie's.
i have long been a fan of her.
and, especially her Bon Qui Qui sketch on MadTV that has over 36 million views.
have you seen it? if not, do yourself and me a favor and go ahead.....
bask your eyes on the greatness that is Bon Qui Qui.
now, as i have said - i'm a fan. i've seen several of her video segments of her stand up on youtube so i knew that she'd be great. but, i had no idea that i would laugh for a solid hour-ish.
speaking of laughing.... i'm a loud laugher. i have my mother to thank for this little quirk that makes me me. i know this about me, and so do most of my friends. the problem is, the only person i knew in the group of 13 that attended the show last night was jess. you see - we were with her work group. oops. i forgot to preface this show with, "'i'm sorry if i embarrass you and just a warning - i laugh really loudly and don't hold back." after the show, one of the girls told me she laughed just as much at me laughing as she did at the show and she wanted to take me to other shows. thanks, mom. i turn into her more and more everyday.
she's notorious for being a loud laugher.
whatevs.
anjelah johnson rocked my socks off. i will probably drive to atlanta in november to see her again,
and take jwood and megz. they have GOT to see it.
she did not do the entire Bon Qui Qui skit, but she included some hints of BQQ,
some hints of the Nail Salon Lady,
some of the Flight Attendant,
and of course - getting hit on.
"Blue shirt, whassup blue shirt...."
she was fantastic.
she was fantastic and .... MINIATURE. we were crazed psycho fans and were the first to run out the back door to get in line to take a photo with her and of course, buy a tshirt.
i mean - i could put her in my pocket.
uh - yea. i look like a mammoth heffer monster next to her. oh well, she's the jam.
and, don't think jess and i didn't sport our "don't interrupt. rude!" shirts to work today.
"pssst purple shirt, purple shirt...."
i have literally laughed to myself all day today thinking about how
frazzlin' funny her show was last night.
i'd go back tonight if i could.
****
but, i am not laughing my rear off at BQQ. i'm having an insanely wild and crazy friday night at the wood hood. i went for a walk around couchville lake after work, because the oppressive humid heat wave weather is starting to give way to more bearable and cooler temps.
i needed the serenity of my little park.
it did not disappoint. i saw this little guy literally 5' away from me....
isn't he cute??
after that, i did the dreaded weekly grocery shopping trip, came home and made a dip (will share this fantastic recipe in a blog coming soon near you) for my lake day!!! tomorrow, watered my strugglin' plants, and whipped up a delicious pan seared tuna steak.
whoooooa. watch out! i told you i was getting crazy!
but, after last night's fun and tomorrow's early morning run to look forward to,
i will totally settle for a quiet friday night in at the wood hood.
"don't get too craaaazay....." with this recipe for a protein cake from peanut butter fingers. i generally am down with whatever she's selling. but this? nope. i tried it. more power to this sister for rocking it. it was basically a semi-sort-of-half-way-chocolaty MICRO SCRAMBLED EGG. it was spongy just like a scrambled egg you'd micro while running late for work. nope. sorry. didn't work for me.
strike out.
my challenge to you -
take my word on skipping the protein cake and go watch every single
solitary video on youtube that you can get your hands on by anjelah johnson.
happy weekend, folks!
ps. it's T minus one week until IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
